reQuest ILL Enhancements

Auto-Graphics updated reQuest on Tuesday, October 14. The update contained a number of enhancements and I’ve listed the 12 most relevant ones to us below.

Note:

  • If you use Shipping Labels, see numbers 8 and 9 (we have a ‘select all’ button!)
  • If you use Bookstraps, see numbers 10 and 11 (we have a ‘select all’ button!)
  • If you use Pick Lists, see number 12 (you can set it to print ‘new requests only’ or ‘new and printed requests’!)

1. ILL Request Confirmation
The ILL Request Confirmation screen has been modified to include the message “You may track the status of your request using the ILL Request Tracking option in the Patron Menu, if available” to remind
library patrons of the availability of the ILL Request Tracking feature for monitoring the status of their current ILL requests.

2. Browsing by Status

The Borrower’s Title Browse and Lender’s Title Browse screens have been enhanced to provide additional information, as follows:

  • Borrower’s Status Browse and Lender’s Status Browse screens now show the request number (Req. No.) for each request in the list.
  • Lender’s Status Browse screen now shows the Borrower (library code followed by the library name spellout in parentheses) for each request in the list.
  • The Lender field on Borrower’s Status Browse screen now shows the Library Code followed by the library name spellout in parentheses.

3. Browsing by Title
The Borrower’s Title Browse and Lender’s Title Browse screens now include a Library column. For Borrower’s Title Browse, the Library column shows the Library Code of the current lender for the associated
request, followed by the library name spellout in parentheses. If no current lender exists for the request (such as for requests with a status of Awaiting Approval or Unfilled), the Library column shows the
message “No Current Lender”

4. Browsing by Patron
The Borrower’s Patron Browse screen now includes a Library column. The Library column shows the Library Code of the current lender for the associated request, followed by the library name spellout in
parentheses. If no current lender exists for the request (such as for requests with a status of Awaiting Approval or Unfilled), the Library column shows the message “No Current Lender”

5. “Soon to Expire” Alert for Will Supply/In Process Requests
The Lender’s Status Browse Lists for the Will Supply/In Process have been enhanced to include “Soon to Expire” alerts. All requests in these status categories for which only one day remains before the
Deadline or Need By date expires are identified by a ‘flag’ icon in the left column of the list. For example, if the Deadline and/or Need By date is January 18th, the flag will appear on both January 17th and the 18th.

6. Navigational Improvements for Title Browse
The Borrower’s Title Browse and Lender’s Title Browse screens have been enhanced to provide improved navigation. The screens now include alphabetical Jump To links. When a Jump To link is selected, the Title
List refreshes to display only those titles that begin with the selected letter. Selecting the Jump To – All link refreshes the list to display all titles.

7. Navigational Improvements for Patron Browse
The Borrower’s Patron Browse screen has been enhanced to provide improved navigation. The screen now includes alphabetical Jump To links. When a Jump To link is selected, the Patron List refreshes to display
only those patrons whose last name begins with the selected letter. Selecting the Jump To – All link refreshes the list to display all patron names.

8. Viewing and Selecting Shipping Labels
Previously, when the Maintain Shipping Labels function was selected, the default value for the View menu on the Maintain Shipping Labels screen was Both Printed and Unprinted. The View menu is now set to
Unprinted Labels Only by default. Additionally, a SELECT ALL checkbox has been added to the Maintain Shipping Labels screen. When the SELECT ALL checkbox is selected, the individual checkboxes for all currently displayed shipping labels are automatically selected.

9. Removal of Shipping Labels
The conditions under which shipping labels are automatically removed by the system from the Maintain Shipping Labels list have been modified as follows:

  • Borrow requests are removed from the Maintain Shipping Labels list when the lender updates the status of the request to either Check In or Lost, or when the borrower updates the status of the request to Lost.
  • Copy requests are removed from the Maintain Shipping Labels list during midnight processing on the day the borrower updates the status of the request to Received.

10. Removal of Bookstraps
The conditions under which bookstraps are automatically removed by the system from the Maintain Bookstraps list have been modified as follows:

  • Borrow requests are removed from the Maintain Bookstraps list when the lender updates the status of the request to either Check In or Lost, or when the borrower updates the status of the request to Lost.
  • Copy requests are removed from the Maintain Bookstraps list during midnight processing on the day the borrower updates the status of the request to Received.

11. Viewing and Selecting Bookstraps

Only by default.Additionally, a SELECT ALL checkbox has been added to the Maintain Bookstraps screen. When the SELECT ALL checkbox is selected, the individual checkboxes for all currently displayed bookstraps are automatically selected.

12. Configuring the Pick List
The Pick List feature (accessed from the Lender’s Pending Status Browse List) has been enhanced to allow libraries to select the specific fields for inclusion in Pick Lists and set the order in which the fields
are listed. Additionally, libraries may configure the the Pick List feature to print new requests only, or both new and previously printed requests. Configuration of the Pick List is accomplished using the Configure Pick List option from the ILL Administration menu.
