What Goes Round Comes Round

Our wonderful Friends of the Library held a librarian and volunteer appreciation get together this evening. It was a really nice affair. One of the friends members told me this story.

She thanked me for purchasing the book The wishing year : a house, a man, my soul : a memoir of fulfilled desire / Noelle Oxenhandler.  She had originally seen it at the Uconn Co-op and thought it would be something she would like to read. She was very surprised to see it sitting on our shelves on her next visit to the library. She loved it so much that she talked it up to several friends. One checked her local library, found out that they didn’t own it and put in an ILL request for it. The book arrived and she phoned her friend, all excited. The book had come from Columbia! She thought it was the coolest thing that she was reading the very book that her friend had read.

I love stories like this. It makes me proud to do ILL as part of my job.
