Reminder about CCAR Slips

Good morning everyone,

Briefly: This is a reminder to use the check boxes on the Ccar routing slips. Particularly important is the “Date returned by patron” field if the item is a Ccard return.

Details: The information on the Ccar routing slips helps the destination library sort and handle incoming items properly.

Ccar routing slips are at: http://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/dld/ccar/ccarroutingslips

Why is the ‘date returned by patron’ important for Ccard returns?

As far as the patron is concerned the item is returned when they drop it off at any library, so that date needs to be on the Ccar slip. The owning library should calculate overdue fines (if any) based on the date the patron dropped off the item, not the date the owning library received the item back on Ccar.

If the patron pays an overdue fine when they drop off the item, check the “Fines Paid” field too so that the owning library doesn’t bill the patron for fines they have already paid.

Also, if you wish to add a note to clarify anything for the destination library, you can use the “Remarks” field, which is just below the “From:” area of the Ccar slip.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards, Steve
