deLiverIT CT Update: March 21, 2016

From State Librarian, Kendall Wiggin:  Although we had been monitoring the volume of deliverITmaterial in Avant’s warehouse, we have discovered that there is now a huge volume of material in their warehouse that we had not been aware of. Much more than we can reasonably work back into the system and keep up with regular volume.

Much of this material is in bags and boxes  or loose.  In order to get all of your books out of Avant’s warehouse and back to your libraries, it is necessary for Walt and his drivers to sort, label and pack these materials.  We also need to get everything out of Avant’s warehouse by the end of this month.

To deal with this situation we will make deliveries only beginning Monday March 28th on all routes .

Regular service (pickup and delivery) should resume on Monday, April 4th. We will keep you posted on that.

To minimize the backlog at individual libraries we would encourage you to temporarily:

limit placing and filling interlibrary loan requests

  • encourage CCARD patrons to return books to the owing library
  • and any additional steps you can

Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated.
